Vintage Pressed Glass Covered Butter Dish w/ Dome Lid/Tray, Round Starburst. Some chips on plate as photographed. This is a covered butter dish (also called a butter dome or butter server) made of pressed glass. Here are the identifying features: * A round plate with a raised center to hold a stick or pat of butter. * A matching domed lid with a pointed finial handle. * A pressed starburst/fan pattern around the lid and on the rim of the plate. * Clear molded glass rather than hand-cut crystal. These dishes were very popular from the 1930s through the 1960s, although similar designs have been made more recently. They were used to keep butter covered on the dining table or countertop.
