I believe the forged code on the handle indicates 1939 as the year of manufacture. Here's a Bet'r-Grip 8" Vanadium adjustable wrench. It was made by the J.P. Danielson Company of Jamestown, New York, although Danielson's name is not on the wrench.I believe the forged code on the handle indicates 1939 as the year of manufacture. It's in excellent working condition - there's no real damage anywhere and the moveable jaw shows light wear and adjusts smoothly. The hang-hole is a broached 9/16" 12-point box wrench. The forged lettering is in the early "typewriter" font. There are no owner's marks. The finish shows lots of use and handling, and there is some pitting on the sides of the head, but this one has survived the years very well and would be fine in daily use. The Vanadium models without the Danielson brand are quite rare.
