A rare complete set of 10 Wedgwood "The American Sporting Dog Plates," designed by British-American artist Marguerite Kirmse (1885–1954) and produced at Wedgwood of Etruria & Barlaston, England, circa 1960s. Each plate features a finely engraved brown transferware hunting scene with a different sporting breed as the central subject and a game bird or animal vignette on the rim. The reverse of each plate carries the Wedgwood and Wedgwood Studios marks, the series title in script, Kirmse's signature, and a printed breed description. BREEDS INCLUDED: 1. Irish Setter 2.
