These four-masted schooners were abandoned in the Sheepscot River in 1936 after their owner went bankrupt. For decades, they were famous local fixtures and popular subjects for photography and postcards. Despite efforts to preserve them as tourist attractions, the vessels deteriorated severely over time. The remnants of both schooners were finally removed and demolished in 1998.
