WONDERLAND REVERE BEACH MASSACHUSETTS S49 LANGSDORF SHELL BORDER POSTCARD 1907. Sigmund Langsdorf (1846-1926) was born in Battenfeld, Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1862. Aside from the alligator set probably published in November 1907, he also produced a set of shell borders and a State Girl series. S ent 1907, divided back with light corner bumping, a bit of bleed through & toning. Fine+ condition. The highest number I have in the Langsdorf shell border series is 168 so it may be similar in size to the Alligator border set. The earliest usage I have for the shell border cards is in August 1907 whereas the earliest usage I have for the alligator border's is Novermber 1907 so they were produced around the same time. Sigmund Langsdorf (1846-1926) was born in Battenfeld, Germany and emigrated to the United States in 1862. His father's name was Samuel. He made his career in tobacco and then later in fancy goods and novelties including postcards. Aside from the alligator set probably published in November 1907, he also produced a set of shell borders and a State Girl series. He is listed in Distinguished Jews of America. Judaica related.
