This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the opening of the Original London production of the BENNY ANDERSSON, BJ Ö RN ULVAEUS, ALAIN BOUBLIL and DANIEL BOUBLIL musical adventure "ABBACADABRA" at the Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith in London. (The production opened December 8th, 1983 and ran for a limited engagement of eight weeks, closing January 21st, 1984.) ..... Originally produced for French television the previous year, the musical was revised for the English stage when CAMERON MACKINTOSH decided to bring the show to London. The French production consisted of twelve ABBA songs with new French lyrics written by Alain Boublil and Daniel Boublil and the story was based on classic fairy tales like "Sleeping Beauty", "Cinderella", "Pinocchio", "Snow White" and others. The London score featured fourteen ABBA songs including "I am the Seeker", written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus for the London production. The cast included ELAINE PAIGE, sixteen year-old JENNA RUSSELL (making her London stage debut), NIGEL HARMAN, RICHARD HAGON, DEXTER FLETCHER, FINOLA HUGHES, MICHAEL PRAED, SYLVESTER McCOY, B. A. ROBERTSON, PHIL DANIELS, CLAUD PAUL HENRY, STEWART AVON ARNOLD, GEOFF DAVID, LINDA MAE-BREWER and JAYNE LEIGH COLLINS ..... This single page, two-sided handbill measures 6" X 9" inches and includes wonderful graphics, production credits and partial cast list on the front and performance dates, ticket prices, promotional text and booking information on the backside ..... CONDITION: This rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian . This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
