Grateful Dead Fans !!! This " Bonus Disc CD ! " ( 12-Tracks ! ) might just be a snapshot of The Grateful Dead at their Absolute-Best ! Despite the very valid arguments that the band hit their 1st " Prime " in 1968-69 - I tend to side with the idea that this period was actually their 1st " Big Prime ". So, to be fair - if somewhere in Spring '68 to Fall '69 was their 1st Prime - then the Mid-1970's was undoubtedly their 2nd. Also, if somebody said this was the very-best " Road Trips " Series release ever ( Vol. 3 No. 3 ) - I probably wouldn't argue. What you have here is an Incredible ! mix of both Electric ! & Acoustic !! material ( plenty of the vital song selections from this fine 1968-70 period are included ) - and the digitally remastered sound is simply the Bomb on this release - period. You cannot hate digital technology - when it delivers the Dead sounding like this for us. There's a Rock 'n Roll theory out there which I've heard many a times that every one of the " Best Bands Ever " - all hit their ' Prime ' in their 7th year together ( or, close to it ... ) - and for many of them, it also very strangely happened on - or right around 1970 ( that is, unless you’re the Beatles and 1970 meant ' break-up ' ( but it still doesn't mean Let It Be wasn't great ! ) ). Not only are the Grateful Dead in an Unprecedented " Prime " form in 1970 from a standpoint of sound & tone - music / song creativity - and being able to read each other musically with excellence. But, this is also the period where Both Electric ! & Acoustic !! performances occurred Live !!! Does it get any better than-this ? I'm not so sure ?! As these 12-tracks selected on this CD are Absolutely-Amazing ! Grateful Dead that may very well send chills up & down your spine - or at least that is exactly what this one did & still does for me. Immaculate stuff !!! Enjoy this '70 G.D. Road Trips Series Treasure !!!!!
