" " Three !!! " ... and how it's Meant ! to be Heard ... just a cool 15+ years-later !! Finally Folks ... as here you Have-It ! ... " Three " ( 3 ) From The Vault !!! And, the explanation regarding this " situation " is so-well-put inside the Liner Notes, that there is hardly anything that I - or anyone else for that matter, can really add to it . . . " ... the Band's long-standing policy of gleefully monkeywrenching the space-time continuum whenever and wherever possible ". Yep, you guessed it. As this " Fabulous ! " 2/19/71 Capitol Theatre - Port Chester, New York Show should have been release in 1992 or 1993, but it failed to ever happen ?!? But now ... you can just wipe away the " ever " part ! Or, I suppose you could also say that it was just ... never-gotten-around-to - more precisely. Long-story short, the Magnificent ( & Legendary ! ) " Dick's Picks " Series became a reality - and started really happening, with rave-reviews ( obviously ) from Dead Fan Faithful - naturally. Well, I would hardly-ever recommend this ( and don't really even do so here & now ) - but ... it just might be time to part with that pair of dusty-old-analogs ! from this " Historic ! " 2/19/71 Capitol Theatre Show ... simply because you just can't beat the digitally mastered sound offered right here in thse two Amazing CD's !! In fact, if '71 Dead is indeed your cup of tea - you may find yourself thinking whether or not there has ever been a '71 show pro-released that sounds ' quite ' This-Good !?! Personally, I'd say the '71 Road Trips release, or even the Dick' Picks " Houseboat Tapes " release ( DP #35 ) are sure runners-up ... but ' sonically ', not quite like this - at least to my own humble Dead Fan ears. I would even venture to imagine that the reason many of the '71 Port Chester run tapes have been so readily accessible over the years, is in-part because the recordings came out so darn clean. Well, that and the other clearly obvious fact that the Dead were completely On-Fire ! all-throughout this fine stand at the Capitol Theatre in '71 - just into their 6th year together ! Wow ?!? I mean ... Real ! Hot-Stuff !! So, as you can well imaging - this one is indeed " as advertised " - and was well ( Well ! ) worth that 15+ year wait. Geez, but we all got a lot older ? Nah, just ... " wiser " - and have gotten our hands on much, much, Much ! more Killer !! " Live Dead " here in this New Millenium-style " digital age ". Capture this one, indeed - and play it Loud ! because you bet it deserves it - and so do you ! ... as after-all, it almost never even found you. So, Yes ! ... Enjoy !!!
