Yes indeed ... as that 2-CD beauty was the First-Ever ! for the Jerry Garcia Band, and as you will likely recall - it was a Magnificent ! 2-CD Set featuring a ' Live ' compilation of 1990 Jerry Garcia Band ! - and was promptly released in 1991 ... right around the time of Garcia's Massive ! 1991 East Coast Fall Tour ! Well ... in a lot of ways, this set here is sort of a " Volume 2 " so to speak of that Amazing ! Garcia Band release. Where that one was '90 J.G.B. Live -- this 2-CD Set " Shining Star " offered here is a Live compilation ranging from 1989 ! to 1993 !! So, you betcha - you've got a 5-Year range of the Garcia Band that was in actuality very-close to its final swan song. And what is Truly-Awesome ! about this 2-CD set is not only the hand-selected " Great Versions " of the Songs offered, but it also goes a little bit ' deeper ' into the J.G.B. live song repertoire from this '89-'93 Era. So while the 1991 release gives you the " first taste " - and really much of the ' primary ' Live Song numbers ... this one heads quite-nicely towards a few of the standard J.G.B. live numbers, but also touches on the medium-rare - and even to the Rare ! Song kick-downs. You know how it was all you Warfield Lovers ! out there -- and that's why you Always ! caught the Tuesday, Wednesday And ! Thursday shows on Market St. ... because you didn't want to get caught ' without ' hearing Jerry lay down the " Second That Emotion " - " Let's Spend The Night Together " - " Let It Rock " - " When The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game " - and " Positively 4th Street " - etc. And That ! is Truly the Beauty ! of this release - truly gong for the " Deeper Cuts " played with Power & Passion ! - naturally ...
