Description

Allman Brothers Band : Fillmore East 2/70 - February 1970 : Bill Graham's Fillmore East - New York, New York ( NY ) : 1997 (1970/1997) PolyGram Records / GDM, Inc. ( GDCD 4063 ) - ' Hittin' the Note ' ( Macon, Georgia ) : Very Rare !!! Allman Bros. Band ' Live ' from February 1970 at Bill Graham's Fillmore East !! in New York City !!! Wow ..... as for this Allman Bros. release ? It's hard to paint any sort of ' flowery-picture ' on this one my fellow Fans ... as this release is just flat-out Mean ! Rock & Roll !!! Liz Reed - Hoochie Coochie - Stateboro - Trouble No More - Outskirts of Town - Whipping Post - Mountain Jam !!!!!!! And, this just isn't ' any ' Mt. Jam here - as we're talking about 30:48 worth of Guitar Howling ! Rock & Roll !! This Dickey Betts & Duane Allman thing here at this stage is just So-Incredibly " There ! "... as you could really argue that this Early-'70's period was the True ' Gateway ' to the A.B.B. Prime ! period as far as Dueling ! the Axes goes. Wow !?!!! I mean seeing as how Grateful Dead Records released ' Their ' ( " Legendary !!! " ) Fillmore East 2/13,14/70 Dead Shows ( with, arguably " The ! " Dark Star of all Dark Stars ), better-known for decades as " Dick's Picks Volume 4 " ... I mean why-not just go ahead & release it all !?! Because it is just So-So-Worthy ! Oh yeah, and too ( naturally ... ) This Allman Bros. Fillmore East Show was ' also ' Produced & Recorded by Owsley " Bear " Stanley ! I distinctly remember being so-incredibly-Grateful ! when I caught word that this Allman's release would quickly-follow the Dead release, way back in 1996 / 1997 ... with Both ! being releases of the " GDCD " nature ! An Ampex Cover for the Dead release ( naturally ... being of the Classic " Dick's Picks " Series ) - and then too ... a Scotch Tape ! Cover for the Allman's release !!! So-awesome for those who loves their Rock & Roll ' packaging ' just as much as I do. My goodness, as the simply-fact is ... both the Grateful Dead & The Allman Brothers Band were nothing-short of Completely-Fierce ! ... & Right-In " The Zone ! " in this so-so-special period - well knowing that they were already well-beyond being " on to something " when it came to Improvisational ' Live ' deliveries ... and, it was just purely in both Band's blood to Deliver !! the Rock & Roll goods - and, especially on a stage as vitally-important to the times back then - and to Rock & Roll History ! here today - as in ... Bill Graham's Fillmore East !!! Rock & Roll !!!!! R.I.P. Duane, Gregg & Butch ... & Hey Now Dickey ! -- Keep On Truckin' ! ... & Bringin' the Live-Heat !! Just watched 3 1/3 Hours of You ! Rockin' Out on YouTube - Last Week ! ( Lots of You & " Dangerous " Dan " too ! ... So-Hot !! ) Ha !!! Enjoy !!!!!!! 1. This live recording captures the Allman Brothers Band at their raw, fiery best. The energy from their 1970 Fillmore East performance is electrifying—Duane’s searing slide, Gregg’s soulful vocals, and that legendary twin-guitar attack sound absolutely unstoppable. A must-have for any fan of real, unfiltered Southern rock. Pure magic on disc!
