Description
Civil War token, 1/229 a, patriotic type, copper, R-1. The obverse shows a head of Liberty facing left, with stars around, and the date, 1863, below. The reverse shows a full circle wreath, with two crossed branches, one on each side of a small shield at the inside top edge. Inside the lower section of the wreath is "OUR COUNTRY", with a star between two long triangles to the left and right. Faint traces of original red can just be seen around some of the leaves of the wreath, near the rim. On the obverse is a trace of bluish toning around some of the stars. Both sides show subdued luster across the surfaces . A few light, typical contact marks on some of the fields that only show under a magnifier.
