Description

This 1980 German import stereo album from Telefunken (6.42640 AW) features performances of Utrecht Te Deum and Jubilate by Georg Friedrich Händel. Featured performers include Emma Kirkby (Soprano), Judith Nelson (Soprano), Charles Brett (Counter-tenor), Rogers Covey-Crump (Tenor), Paul Elliot (Tenor) and David Thomas (Bass), accompanied by The Academy of Ancient Music ("on authentic instruments"), directed by Simon Preston. Album notes are in English, French and German. Also included is a two-sided photocopy of reviews of the album in the December, 1980 and May, 1985 issues of Gramophone magazine. The outer sleeve has what appears to be a factory-applied Telefunken logo sticker at top center, over the printed logo for L'Oiseau-Lyre. (Photo 1) There is also a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back. (Photo 2) This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of classical LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear. NOTES: Album sleeves may have a small index sticker, usually in the upper right corner of the back, which was applied when the album was first purchased for this private collection.
